I led the early product design for their second generation “CareNet” elder care management system. One touchpoint to be designed was a tablet based “Point Of Service” app by which caregivers could receive alerts from sensors around the “smart facility” and document “in the field” the care given to each resident. A primary requirement for this POS experience was that documentation interactions should require 30 seconds or less to complete. Another touchpoint to be designed was a web portal by which family members and administrators could track and update resident care plans and monitor care given. An early requirement for this portal was that reports from structured dats, would be generated in a natural language format. These, and other unique requirements, made this CareNet system an exciting and challenging product to design.
Worked closely with company founders and CEO to develop the unique requirements for this visionary care management system.
Performed a full code audit of the legacy system, including detailed documentation of how and why it did or did not fill the current requirements.
Developed a new set of interactive wireframes that covered the whole care management process according to the new requirements.
Iterated through various wireframe designs, with feedback from user testing with staff.
Designed a collection of “care management” icons to support the application’s user interface needs.
Developed a working MVP applicaiton, complete with custom datatypes, unique form widgets and workflows, and a “natural language” system for rendering structured data in a readable journal format.
